Abu Dhabi, September 9, 2024 – ADNEC Group, in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council and in partnership with the globally recognized Challenge Family, has officially announced the launch of the Challenge Sir Bani Yas Triathlon, the first long-distance triathlon in the Middle East and North Africa region. The inaugural event is scheduled to take place from 3–7 April 2025 on the breathtaking Sir Bani Yas Island.
As the latest addition to the Challenge Family global series—spanning 27 countries with over 75,000 participating athletes—the event is expected to attract 2,800 international competitors and 1,500 visitors, setting a new benchmark for sporting excellence and regional tourism.
The full-distance triathlon will consist of a 3.8 km swim, 180 km cycle, and 42.2 km run, spread across a 17-hour endurance challenge. A middle-distance option will also be available, including a 1.9 km swim, 90 km cycle, and 21.1 km run. Complementing the race, a series of community and tourism-oriented activities will engage both participants and families alike, from horseback riding and nature reserve tours to scuba diving and kayaking.
