RIYADH – In a dazzling display of resilience, skill, and teamwork, Jeddah United Club have once again raised the bar in Saudi women’s basketball by clinching the coveted gold medal at the Saudi 3×3 Women’s Basketball Tournament, adding a new milestone to their growing legacy.
The event, hosted over three thrilling days in Madinah, was conducted under the patronage of the Ministry of Sports and the Saudi Basketball Federation, affirming the Kingdom’s strategic focus on developing basketball and promoting female athletes in a rapidly evolving sports ecosystem.
The tournament welcomed over 1,500 spectators and featured three competitive categories — men, women, and under-18 boys — underscoring the increasing enthusiasm for the sport across age groups and genders in the Kingdom.
In the fiercely contested women’s division, six teams battled for supremacy: Jeddah United, Al-Nassr Club, Al-Qadisiyah Club, NEOM Club, Jeddah Club, and Gym Master Team. From the outset, Jeddah United showcased tactical precision and team synergy that distinguished them from their competitors.
They commenced their campaign with an emphatic 21–2 victory against Gym Master, asserting their dominance early on. This was followed by a strong 14–5 performance against Al-Qadisiyah in the group stage. Their semifinal clash saw them overpower Jeddah Club with a convincing 20–12 win, securing a spot in the championship showdown.
The final was a tense and high-octane affair against Al-Nassr Club. In what was the tournament’s most nail-biting contest, Jeddah United edged out a 22–20 triumph, preserving their perfect tournament record and lifting the championship trophy in style.
The gold-winning squad featured Kawthar Khayyat, Fahda Al-Sulaiman, Rand Alnowaiser, and Noura Alkhayyal, under the strategic leadership of team manager Ahmed Amir. Their athleticism, coordination, and strategic execution were evident in every match, further enhancing the team’s reputation as a powerhouse in Saudi Arabia’s basketball scene.
Central to their continued success is the institutional support backing the team. Jeddah United’s strategic alliance with the University of Business and Technology and the medical support from MyClinic have proven essential in maintaining the players’ performance and readiness.
The 3×3 gold medal extends Jeddah United’s already glittering record, adding to their back-to-back golds at the Saudi Games in 2022 and 2023, and a bronze in 2024. This victory reinforces their standing as trailblazers in women’s sports and reaffirms their mission of promoting female participation in high-level competition.
As Saudi Arabia accelerates its sports ambitions under its Vision 2030 agenda, the continued excellence of clubs like Jeddah United serves as a compelling symbol of the Kingdom’s progressive shift toward inclusive and empowered athletics. Their success is more than just a trophy—it is an inspiration for a new generation of Saudi women athletes, illustrating what is possible in the arena of competitive sports.
