Sharjah Sports Council Honours Emirati Paragliding Champion Abdullah Al Hammadi
In a proud celebration of national sporting excellence, the Sharjah Sports Council (SSC) honoured Emirati air sports champion Abdullah Nasser Al Hammadi for his outstanding achievements during the current sports year. The honouring ceremony was held in the presence of His Excellency Issa Hilal Al Hazami, Chairman of the Council, and Mohammed Obaid Al Hossan, Director of the Sports Affairs and Development Department.
Al Hammadi’s performance has been nothing short of exceptional, clinching five first-place titles in various regional and continental competitions and proudly raising the UAE flag on multiple international platforms. His accomplishments have reaffirmed the growing prestige of air sports in the UAE.
“This honour is a reflection of the athlete’s great efforts in representing the country,” said His Excellency Issa Hilal, during the ceremony. “His achievements speak volumes about the rapid development of air sports in the UAE, and such success rightly deserves full support and appreciation.”
He further stated that the increasing popularity of paragliding has been greatly aided by champions like Abdullah Nasser Al Hammadi, whose victories continue to enhance the UAE’s reputation in international forums.
During the event, the Council presented an honorary shield to Al Hammadi, recognising the impact of his sporting accomplishments on elevating the profile of Sharjah and Emirati sports globally.
Al Hammadi expressed gratitude for the recognition, affirming its deep significance in his sports journey. “I am proud to have raised the UAE flag on five occasions this year,” he said. “This honour holds great moral value, and I promise to continue this journey with strength and passion.”
The event concluded with a group photograph, underscoring the SSC’s ongoing commitment to supporting national talent, fostering the success of individual sports, and encouraging Emirati athletes to shine in regional and international competitions.

- First place in both the First and Second Asian Paragliding Championships – Precision Landing Category held in Kazakhstan
