Dubai Basketball Club to Compete in EuroLeague Starting 2025-26 Season
Dubai – In a landmark achievement for UAE sports, Dubai Basketball Club has been selected to compete in the EuroLeague, one of the world’s leading top-tier professional basketball competitions, beginning with the 2025-26 season.
According to H.H. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the UAE Olympic Committee and Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, “Dubai is confidently establishing itself as a global force in sport.” He emphasized the ongoing commitment of the Dubai Sports Council to “support our clubs in achieving new milestones and creating meaningful opportunities for talented athletes to compete on the world’s biggest stages.”
Since its establishment in 2023, Dubai Basketball Club has rapidly proven its capability against both domestic and international opponents. “In just two years, the club has demonstrated that it can stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the sport’s elite. Its debut in the EuroLeague will not only add strength to the competition, but also inspire athletes across the UAE to pursue their dreams on the international stage,” H.H. Sheikh Mansoor noted.
With a multicultural roster featuring standout players from the UAE, the Philippines, the United States, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Jordan, Türkiye, Latvia, Italy, Bosnia, and France, all guided by FIBA-licensed coaches, the team exemplifies a global approach to professional basketball.
The club’s entry into the EuroLeague comes as the competition expands its field to 20 teams, a strategic move aimed at increasing fixtures, intensifying rivalries, and attracting new global audiences. Dubai Basketball Club will play 38 regular-season games, with matchups hosted at Dubai’s world-class Coca-Cola Arena.
On the court, Dubai’s team will compete with legendary rivals such as Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Olympiacos, and Fenerbahçe. The EuroLeague is broadcast to more than 300 million viewers annually, underscoring the significance and prestige of the event.
Earlier this year, during the 2024-25 season, the club made its debut in the Adriatic Basketball Association (ABA) League, advancing to the semi-finals among 16 teams from six countries, further underlining its readiness for the highest levels of continental competition.
