Impressive Emirati Victory at Inaugural Snow Duathlon in Ski Dubai Draws 209 Athletes from 49 Countries
Dubai, UAE – In a remarkable display of athleticism and international spirit, the inaugural Snow Duathlon at Ski Dubai concluded with resounding success, spotlighting both local and global sporting talent. Hosted in partnership with the Dubai Sports Council and CRANK Fitness, the event marked a groundbreaking first for the region, featuring 209 athletes from 49 countries braving sub-zero conditions.
Highlighting the event, Emirati athlete Kalthoum Al Mazmi delivered an outstanding performance, taking first place in the Women’s Individual Category (3km run & 5km cycling) by clocking an impressive 30:73 minutes. The Men’s Individual Category witnessed a victory from Syrian competitor Omran Shkair, who finished with a time of 22:56 minutes.
In the prestigious Elite Women’s Category, Czech athlete Michala Radomska led the pack, finishing the 5km cycling and five running laps in 36:68 minutes. On the men’s side, Norwegian Hallvard Borsheim clinched top honors with a brisk 27:82 minutes. The fiercely-contested Teams Category saw Colombia’s Comando Group emerge dominant, achieving an average time of 19:63 minutes.
The newly launched Snow Duathlon exemplifies Ski Dubai’s commitment to innovative fitness and adventure, combining outdoor-style running and stationary cycling against the dramatic backdrop of indoor snow, with temperatures plunging to minus four degrees. This unique challenge not only tested the athletes’ endurance but also delivered a truly memorable sporting experience.
Organizers have confirmed that Ski Dubai’s robust fitness calendar will continue with the 16th edition of the Ice Warrior Challenge scheduled for September—an event now considered a mainstay among Dubai’s endurance competitions.
Supported by key brands—including Psycho Bunny, Gatorade, Glowell, ZSI, SKME, Rootfoot, Regale Clinic, Yalla Bowling, Activate, and iFly—the Snow Duathlon reflects the ongoing collaboration between Ski Dubai and the Dubai Sports Council. As part of a broader strategy, these partnerships aim to promote community well-being, encourage active, healthy lifestyles, and make snow sports accessible throughout the year.
Significantly, the Dubai Sports Council has renewed its commitment to diversifying the emirate’s sports offerings, organizing events that are inclusive for people of all nationalities, ages, and abilities—including People of Determination. Their mission is to ensure that everyone in Dubai can participate in, and find joy through, a wide spectrum of sports.
