Abu Dhabi Gears Up for 4th Bike Abu Dhabi Gran Fondo with Record Prize and Reversed Route
The Abu Dhabi Sports Council has announced that the 4th Bike Abu Dhabi Gran Fondo will take place on Sunday, 21 December 2025. The 2025 edition brings a significant change to the route, starting in the Al Ain Region and culminating in Abu Dhabi, allowing riders to journey through some of the UAE’s most scenic landscapes.
This year, the event will feature an impressive AED 2,000,000 prize pool, a further testament to its growing stature. With 364 awards to be presented—an increase of 44 compared to the previous year—the event continues its tradition of recognising cycling excellence at every level.
Aref Hamad Al Awani, Secretary General of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, highlighted the race’s pivotal role in Abu Dhabi’s efforts to become a leading global destination for cycling. According to Al Awani: “The Bike Abu Dhabi Gran Fondo is a unique competitive event that brings together amateurs and professionals alike. It reflects our strategic vision to make cycling an integral part of life in the emirate.” He also noted the race’s new route direction and the increased number of prizes, underscoring the council’s commitment to further advancing the event and solidifying its position on the international race calendar.
This race forms a cornerstone of the Bike Abu Dhabi platform, as part of ongoing annual initiatives designed to promote Abu Dhabi as a global hub for cycling while fostering healthy and sustainable lifestyles across the emirate. Launched in 2022, the Gran Fondo has quickly earned a spot on the global cycling calendar, attracting riders from around the world.
The previous edition drew over 1,000 male and female cyclists representing more than 70 nationalities, showcasing the UAE’s core values of tolerance and coexistence. This year’s event also coincides with the Year of the Community initiative, reinforcing the theme of social cohesion and inclusion and highlighting the unifying power of sport in bringing together diverse segments of society.
The 4th Bike Abu Dhabi Gran Fondo is set to further engrain cycling culture into the fabric of the nation, supporting the long-term ambition of making the UAE a beacon for healthy living and sporting excellence.
