Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF) and Federación Mexicana de Fútbol Forge Strategic Partnership in Glendale, Arizona
The Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF) and the Federación Mexicana de Fútbol have taken a significant step towards deepening international collaboration in football with the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU). The historic agreement, formalized in Glendale, Arizona during the quarterfinal match between Saudi Arabia and Mexico at the CONCACAF Gold Cup, saw the respective presidents, Mr. Yasser Almisehal (SAFF) and Mr. Mikel Andoni Arriola Peñalosa (Federación Mexicana de Fútbol), put pen to paper in an effort to bolster cooperation across both nations.
The newly signed MOU is aimed at reinforcing cooperation on several priority areas, including football development, grassroots initiatives, and women’s football. Furthermore, it will facilitate the exchange of valuable knowhow related to the hosting of major competitions, cultivating a shared space for knowledge transfer and capacity building within both federations.
Announcing the first initiative of this collaboration, the SAFF revealed plans for Saudi Arabia to host the Mexico U17 National Team in the Kingdom in October. This visit will serve as a crucial part of Mexico’s preparations for the upcoming FIFA U17 World Cup 2025, scheduled to take place in Qatar this November.
Key stakeholders were present at the signing, underscoring the importance and high-level commitment to the agreement. Individuals present included Ibrahim Alkassim, Iñigo Riestra, Majed Al Sahib, Hicham El Amrani, Frédéric Nkeuna, Enrique Nieto Junco, and Daniel Hadad.
With this MOU, Saudi Arabia and Mexico are setting a new benchmark for international partnership within the football community, investing in their shared vision for the future of the sport through the exchange of expertise and resources.
