Emirati Racing Star Rashid Al Dhaheri Shines with Podium Finish at Hungaroring
Emirati racing sensation Rashid Al Dhaheri delivered an impressive performance this weekend at the iconic Hungaroring circuit, securing a second-place finish and gaining valuable championship points in the Formula Regional Championship.
Situated just outside Budapest, the Hungaroring is celebrated for its tight, technical layout and rich history in Formula racing. Competing here requires precision, endurance, and a perfectly balanced car setup—a challenge for any driver and team.
For Al Dhaheri, this event marked his first-ever appearance at the historic venue, but the young driver demonstrated his adaptability and quick learning from the outset. In the opening test session on Thursday, he was immediately competitive, underscoring his capacity to master unfamiliar terrain.
During collective test days on Thursday and Friday, Rashid and his PREMA team focused intensely on refining the car’s setup. Their teamwork aimed at achieving optimal balance and performance for the demanding race weekend ahead, and their efforts soon delivered results.
Saturday’s qualifying session saw Al Dhaheri achieve P3 in the first session, followed by a composed drive in Race 1 that secured a solid P4 finish. The extreme summer heat posed an additional challenge, testing the physical and mental resilience of both the drivers and teams.
On Sunday, Al Dhaheri elevated his performance further. After qualifying P2, he produced a clean and confident drive in Race 2, earning a well-deserved second-place finish and more crucial points for his team in the constructors’ championship.
As Rashid Al Dhaheri himself said:
“What a weekend in Hungary, I’m heading home with great points and strong momentum for the season. Huge thanks to my team for their incredible work and to everyone who continues to support me—it was my first time racing at the Hungaroring, and I loved every lap!” (Rashid Al Dhaheri)
This podium finish marks yet another milestone in Rashid Al Dhaheri’s journey from international karting champion to one of the most promising young talents in global motorsport. His abilities to perform under pressure, adapt quickly, and collaborate effectively with his team continue to set him apart on the competitive European racing circuit.
The next round of the championship will take place in two weeks at the Paul Ricard Circuit in France, where Rashid will aim to maintain his strong form and continue his ascent in the standings.
