UAE Disqualified After Strong Start at Asian Men’s U-16 Volleyball Championship
Nakhon Pathom, Thailand, July 14, 2025 — The United Arab Emirates’ campaign at the Asian Men’s U-16 Volleyball Championship came to a sad end after the team was officially disqualified due to eligibility violations, despite an impressive performance in their opening match.
Before the disqualification, the UAE team showcased excellent teamwork and offensive balance to defeat Uzbekistan in straight sets (25-18, 25-13, 27-25). The win was a promising start to their Pool C journey, highlighting the UAE’s rising talent and disciplined on-court chemistry.
However, after that strong showing, tournament officials announced the UAE team’s disqualification after it was revealed due to failure to submit required player documents.
While the UAE team exits the championship prematurely, their performance—particularly the win over Uzbekistan—demonstrated the nation’s growing potential in the sport. Their disqualification serves as a reminder of the importance of regulatory compliance at the international level.
The championship continues through July 19 in Nakhon Pathom and co-host city Ratchaburi, with powerhouse teams like Iran, Japan, and South Korea pressing forward in their quest for continental glory.
