UAE Muay Thai Youth Open Championship Launches in Dubai
The UAE Muay Thai Youth Open Championship began on Friday, 15 August at the Dubai World Trade Centre, marking the start of three days of intense competition and bringing together 422 young fighters from 49 clubs across the UAE and beyond.
Organised by the UAE Muay Thai and Kickboxing Federation, the event underscores ongoing efforts to promote the sport’s growth and provide young athletes with opportunities to develop their skills in pursuit of international excellence. The championship also plays a pivotal role in the UAE’s preparations for hosting the IFMA Youth World Championships in Abu Dhabi next month.
The opening day was attended by Sorayut Chasombat, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the UAE, and Ali Khoury, Board Member of the UAE Muay Thai and Kickboxing Federation. Their presence highlights the strong ties and shared commitment between the two nations in furthering Muay Thai.
Competitors, ranging from 10 to 17 years old, participated in 77 bouts across a variety of weight categories during the first day. Thirty referees supervised the matches, ensuring fairness and high standards as the event progressed towards its semi-finals and finals. The championship will conclude on Sunday, 17 August with the crowning of the champions.
