Eighth Vice President’s Jiu-Jitsu Cup Set to Begin in Dubai
The eighth Vice President’s Jiu-Jitsu Cup is set to kick off tomorrow at Shabab Al Ahli Club in Dubai, welcoming a wide participation from clubs across the UAE and a strong line-up of ranked athletes.
The championship will feature competitions across four divisions: Under-14, Under-16, Under-18, and Adults. The qualifying rounds are scheduled for tomorrow, while the finals and medal ceremonies honoring the top three in each division will take place the following day.
According to Yousef Abdullah Al Batran, the Vice President’s Jiu-Jitsu Cup is significant within the Federation’s competition calendar, serving as a key platform for athlete skill development and increased competition between clubs and academies, contributing to the overall growth of the sport in the region.
Zayed Al Kaabi highlighted that Al Ain Jiu-Jitsu Club enters this edition with high ambitions following their success last year in the Under-14 and Under-18 categories, emphasizing the motivation these achievements bring to players, coaches, and management.
Last year’s seventh edition saw intense competition, with Al Ain Club securing victories in the Under-14 and Under-18 divisions ahead of Sharjah Self-Defence Sports Club, Baniyas, and Al Jazira. Sharjah Self-Defence Sports Club triumphed in the Under-16 category, outperforming Baniyas and Al Ain, while Al Wahda Club retained their title in the adults division, ahead of Al Ain and Baniyas.
