UAE Special Olympics Team Shines at Youth Muay Thai World Championship The UAE Special Olympics team has achieved a significant milestone by securing 15 participation gold medals at the Youth Muay Thai World Championship held in Abu Dhabi. The team showcased their skills in specially designed showcase training competitions, organised by the UAE Muay Thai and Kickboxing Federation. These events were structured according to international best practices, highlighting the UAE’s commitment to sports excellence and inclusion. The championship, hosted at the Space 42 Arena in Abu Dhabi, is set to conclude tomorrow with the finals for the 16–17 age category. Following the finals, there will be a crowning ceremony for the champions and an announcement of the tournament’s individual awards, marking the high point of the competition. Meanwhile, in conjunction with the sporting event, the General Assembly of the International Muay Thai Federation convened in Abu Dhabi. The assembly focused on advancing organisational strategies to further develop the sport. Key topics included the staging of international championships, expanding support programmes for training coaches, referees, and athletes, as well as implementing educational initiatives. The assembly also discussed future plans and emphasised the federation’s notable continental expansion, particularly throughout Asia. An important highlight from the meeting was the announcement of Muay Thai’s debut at the Asian Youth Games set to take place in Bahrain next October, marking another significant step for the sport on the international stage.
