Kuwait Club Dominates Kazma for Historic Three-Peat Kuwait Club clinched the title of the 40th Arab Handball Club Championship for League and Cup winners on Monday with a commanding 32-22 victory over compatriots Kazma, marking their third consecutive championship title. The tournament commenced on September 12 and concluded with the final showdown hosted at the Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Sports Complex. Kazma stormed into the final with early momentum, establishing a five-goal lead. However, Kuwait Club demonstrated composure and tactical superiority to turn the tide, ending the first half ahead 14-12. In the second half, they completely took control, widening the gap and sealing a dominant win to etch their name in the history books. Serbian recruit Vladan was pivotal in the final and was recognized as the “Man of the Match” for his influential performance on both ends of the court. Dheen Al-Din, Kuwait Club board member and assistant secretary, said: “It’s a proud moment to witness two Kuwaiti teams in the final. This achievement reflects both the strength of our Premier League and the committed efforts of the handball federation.” Likewise, Omar Al-Mull, Kazma board member, treasurer, and head of handball, praised his team’s runner-up finish, calling it “a major milestone for Kuwaiti handball” and highlighting “the high technical level of the tournament.” Beyond the final, the tournament saw Egypt’s Al-Ahly Bank Club securing third place with a narrow 30-27 win over Iraq’s Al-Hashd. Other standings included Sulaibikhat (Kuwait) in fifth, followed by Qatar Club in sixth, Basra Oil Club (Iraq) in seventh, and Syria’s Al-Shabab rounding out the rankings in eighth. Following the historic win, Kuwait Club President Khaled Al-Ghanem confirmed that the club has officially applied to host both the Gulf Handball Club Championship and the Asian Club Championship. Al-Ghanem emphasized that “the success in hosting this year’s and last year’s Arab Championships in Kuwait played a significant role in pushing us to bid for larger continental events.” The club now awaits official approvals from the respective continental handball governing bodies. The championship win further cements Kuwait Club’s status as the most successful local club in international handball competitions. With this triumph, the club holds three Arab titles (2023, 2024, 2025), one Asian title, one Gulf title, and has made two appearances in the Handball Club World Cup. Reflecting on the club’s achievements, Al-Ghanem stated: “Our win was thoroughly deserved and came as a result of the dedication of our players, technical staff, management, and fans. We’re motivated to keep pushing for further success both in local and regional competitions.” He also took the opportunity to extend warm wishes for Saudi Arabia’s National Day, congratulating King Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and the Saudi people on the occasion. Arab Handball Federation President Fadel Al-Nim expressed gratitude for Kuwait’s hospitality and praised the organizational efforts, saying: “We thank Kuwait for their outstanding hospitality and commend the Kuwait Handball Federation, Kuwait Club, the media, and supporting bodies for ensuring the excellence of this championship.” The Federation also congratulated Kuwait Club on their championship win and commended Sulaibikhat for a strong showing, emphasizing that these accomplishments enhance the regional visibility and competitiveness of Kuwaiti clubs on the international stage.
