Abu Dhabi Corniche to Host Fifth Round of UAE Sailing Hero Championship with Record Participation The Abu Dhabi Corniche is set to host the fifth round of the UAE Sailing Hero Championship this weekend, under the supervision of the UAE Sailing and Rowing Federation. Organised by the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club and its Academy, the event this year has attracted a record participation of nearly 100 sailors from various sailing schools and marine clubs across the country. This year’s competition will showcase the Optimist class, specifically designed for young sailors. This class serves as a crucial foundation for talent discovery and skills development. In addition, the tournament will feature the ILCA categories—ILCA 4, ILCA 6, and ILCA 7—welcoming sailors of different ages and levels. This inclusive approach brings together juniors, youth, and adults in one championship. Races will commence on Saturday in exciting maritime conditions and will conclude on Sunday with the crowning of outstanding champions across all categories. Highlighting the event’s commitment to social inclusion, a special sailing race for athletes of determination will be organised on Sunday in collaboration with the Zayed Higher Organisation for People of Determination (ZHO). This initiative emphasises the message that sport is a bridge uniting all segments of society and is a platform for equal opportunities. According to Khalifa Al Suwaidi, President of Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Academy, “We are proud to achieve a record number of participants this year. The participation of nearly 100 sailors across different categories reflects the importance of the championship and its role in developing the skills of our sailors.” He added: “We are also proud to host a special race for People of Determination in cooperation with ZHO, which embodies the values of inclusivity and gives everyone the chance to shine on the water.” Team V.4-EM-UAE
