Youssef Abdullah Amiri Crowned Arab Cycling Champion in Iraq
BAGHDAD, 6th October, 2025 – Youssef Abdullah Amiri, the UAE national team cyclist, emerged as the Arab champion after claiming the gold medal in the individual time trial (youth category) over a distance of 20 kilometers. The race was held today as part of the Arab Cycling Championship currently underway in the city of Sulaymaniyah, Republic of Iraq.
Amiri completed the race in 24:25:30 minutes, finishing in first place. His teammate, Abdullah Ibrahim Al Hashmi, delivered a strong performance to clinch the bronze medal in third place, after a fiercely contested event that remained undecided until the final meters.
Amiri‘s performance stood out as he outpaced a field of elite Arab cyclists with an impressive time that secured him the top spot and further strengthened the UAE’s presence in this prestigious championship.
This latest success follows the UAE youth team’s victory in the 57-kilometer team time trial just a day earlier, where they won the gold medal. The UAE national cycling team continues to make its mark at the tournament, which runs until October 13 and features the participation of nine Arab countries.
With these achievements, the UAE national team has now accumulated two gold medals and one bronze since the start of the competition. The UAE Cycling Federation has highlighted that these successes are a testament to the effectiveness of their development strategies, the support for young talent, and the advanced status UAE cycling has achieved on both the Arab and international stages.
