Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan attended the exciting conclusion of the second Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship at Mubadala Arena in Zayed Sports City, Abu Dhabi on 12th October, 2025. The event marked the eighth and final round of a championship that ran from January to October 2025, drawing teams from clubs and academies across the UAE.
The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi personally awarded the winners in both the Gi and No-Gi categories, honouring outstanding athletes and recognising the clubs and academies who competed vigorously throughout the yearlong tournament. His Highness also extended recognition to the championship’s sponsors for their significant role in supporting the event and for helping to promote wider community participation and the ethos of sporting values.
The winners received heartfelt congratulations from Sheikh Khaled, who commended their outstanding results and noted the championship’s high levels of performance, sportsmanship, and competitive spirit. He also highlighted the role of the organising entities, acknowledging their efforts in ensuring the championship’s success and cementing its status as a platform for nurturing emerging talent and strengthening the field of jiu-jitsu in the UAE.
Abdulmunem Alsayed Mohammed Al Hashmi, Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, expressed his sincere gratitude to Sheikh Khaled for his ongoing patronage and support of national sports. In his words: H.H.’s attendance at the championship final and his recognition of the winners underscore the leadership’s vision to establish sport as a vital investment in the nation’s youth and future generations.
He further added that the championship’s success in terms of organisation, participation, and technical standards demonstrates the value of this support and visionary leadership, raising Abu Dhabi’s profile as a global model for advancing jiu-jitsu and nurturing future champions.
The event’s final round drew over 2,500 male and female athletes representing prominent local clubs and academies. Competitors contested in Gi categories for age divisions under-12, under-14, under-16, under-18, as well as the adult and masters categories.
Held over 10 months, the second Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship consisted of eight rounds—hosted in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Fujairah—and featured both Gi and No-Gi competitions. The tournament has emerged as a significant sporting and community event, promoting values such as self-confidence, respect, and teamwork among athletes of all ages.
