Oman’s Junior Tennis Team Shows Promise on International Stage
As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen tennis talent and enhance the skills of young athletes, the Oman Tennis Association (OTA) is intensifying its development programmes by sending its junior boys’ and girls’ teams to compete in international tournaments in the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.
The Under-10 national team will participate in the prestigious Dubai Bowl Tournament, scheduled to take place in Dubai from October 25 to November 2. The event is organized by the UAE Tennis Federation in cooperation with the International Tennis Federation (ITF). The tournament aims to provide young players with valuable match experience and the opportunity to earn ranking points while challenging themselves against a stronger field of competitors.
Representing Oman in the tournament will be players Omar al Shaibani, Hatim al Rahbi, Hood al Hashmi, and Fayadh al Hilali. The team will be led by coach Nabil Dube and accompanied by team official Mohammed al Dairi.
In parallel with the boys’ participation in Dubai, Sarah al Maskari will be flying the flag for Oman at the ‘Champions of Tomorrow’ programme hosted by King Saud University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from October 28 to November 1. This initiative, focused on identifying and cultivating emerging tennis talents, extended a special invitation to Sarah, following her nomination by the OTA for her impressive potential and performance.
These engagements are part of the OTA’s broader mission to build a competitive national tennis base, giving its youth the opportunity to compete abroad, accumulate experience, and foster international sportsmanship.
