In this exclusive interview, Hamed shares the story behind Oasis, his commitment to youth development, and how he plans to shape the next generation of football stars. Oasis Football Academy, founded by Hamed Abdulla, is quickly gaining attention as a hub for nurturing young talent with professional ambition. With a deep-rooted passion for the game and a clear vision for the future, Hamed is on a mission to develop athletes who will not only represent Al-Ain on the pitch but also become iconic figures in the UAE’s sporting world.
What inspired you to make the decision of starting Oasis and how has the journey been so far?
It was a personal journey starting Oasis. As an Emirati and an ‘Ainawi’, I understand the struggles of players who couldn’t find a place to truly belong in sports. Oasis began as a simple idea, to change that narrative in the city. We wanted to give the youth of Al Ain a place to grow, feel supported, and express themselves through football. Our aim has always been to create a space where players feel valued, using sport as a tool for growth both on and off the field.
As the academy grows, seeing players develop and families come together has made Oasis more than just an academy; it’s becoming a community.
Al-Ain is becoming a hub for sports in the UAE, how does your academy contribute to the development of football talent in Al-Ain?
Al Ain is quickly becoming a key sports hub in the UAE, and we see Oasis being a part of that transformation. We’ve built our programs to meet the coaching standards while staying rooted in community values. Every session, every initiative is designed to make football more accessible, inclusive, and enjoyable for kids across Al Ain.
In the long run, our goal is to contribute to the city’s reputation as a hub for youth development, producing not just talented players, but well rounded individuals who represent the next generation of UAE sports.
How do you ensure your academy is accessible to youth from all backgrounds, including girls, and those with limited resources?
Accessibility has been one of our key priorities. Sports should be for everyone, and not limited by background, gender, or financial situations. At Oasis, we have made a huge effort to make sure we create opportunities for those who want to be involved. We have introduced flexible payment options, and open days to ensure that costs never become a barrier. Our ‘Falconettes’ programme for girls has also grown, giving young females a safe and supportive environment to train and compete.
Can you describe the training philosophy of your academy and how you take into consideration coaching techniques, science or technology into your training?
Our training revolves around three pillars: development, discipline, and enjoyment. We have an emphasis on progressive coaching methods and player centered learning. Every session is planned to challenge players whilst also keeping it engaging and positive. Technology also plays a big role in what we do. Incorporating reaction-light systems, sensory drills, and more keeps us updated about players performance and lets us monitor progress to tailor players needs.
Looking ahead, what’s your vision for the academy’s role in shaping the future of football and youth empowerment in the UAE?
Our vision goes beyond the academy itself. We see Oasis becoming a platform for youth empowerment and community, where sports become tools that shape our players and help them build their confidence, leadership, and community spirit. We are aiming to strengthen our partnerships with schools and local brands to launch more community-driven initiatives like leagues and tournaments that bring people together, as well as hosting visiting teams to truly make Al Ain a destination for youth sports.
Our biggest goal would be seeing players who started with us represent the city, and clubs, or even their national team in sports, but just as important is seeing them do it whilst carrying the values that Oasis stands for.
