Saif Alblooshi Secures Gold as UAE Jiu-Jitsu Team Shines at Asian Youth Games
Manama, 30th October, 2025 – The UAE Jiu-Jitsu National Team, powered by sponsorship from Mubadala Investment Company, delivered an outstanding performance at the Asian Youth Games in Bahrain, finishing their campaign with a total of seven medals and emerging at the top of the final medal standings.
On Thursday, Saif Alblooshi clinched another gold medal for the UAE with a strong performance in the -48kg division. Aysha Aljneibi earned a silver medal in the -63 kg category, while Hneen Alkhoori (-57 kg), Abdulaziz Alakidi (-69 kg), and Ghala Al Hammadi (-48 kg) took home bronze medals.
The UAE team amassed an impressive tally over the competition, securing two gold, two silver, and three bronze medals. The momentum was set early, with Obaid Al Ketbi winning gold on Wednesday in the -56kg division, and Salem Alqubaisi grabbing silver in the -62kg category.
At the close of the jiu-jitsu event, the UAE stood firmly atop the medal table, ahead of the Republic of Korea and Kazakhstan, who placed second and third respectively.
The competition was attended by Fahad Mohammed Salem Kardous Al Ameri, the UAE Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain, who joined the athletes, coaches, and administrative staff. He congratulated the team, expressing pride in their achievements and their embodiment of the sporting values and national spirit that define the UAE.
Mubarak Saleh Al Menhali, Director of the Technical Department at the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, stated: “The impressive performances we’re seeing today highlight the rapid progress of jiu-jitsu in the UAE and the success of the programmes implemented by academies and clubs to nurture talent and create a strong competitive environment. We are confident our athletes will continue to perform with the same commitment and determination in future competitions to achieve even greater results.”
Reflecting on his gold medal triumph, Saif Alblooshi said: “Competing in a championship of this size gives us valuable experience against different styles and schools of jiu-jitsu. The atmosphere was highly competitive and full of energy. I’m grateful to the Federation for the trust placed in us to represent the UAE, and today’s result motivates me to keep improving.”
