Dubai Ride 2025 Launches Dubai Fitness Challenge, Welcoming Over 40,000 Cyclists
Dubai Ride kicked off the highly anticipated Dubai Fitness Challenge (DFC) 2025 with a morning to remember, transforming Sheikh Zayed Road into the world’s most iconic cycling track. This sixth edition set new records, welcoming a staggering 40,327 cyclists—from seasoned athletes to enthusiastic families—in a remarkable celebration of community spirit and active living.
Presented by DP World, the event set an energetic pace for the month ahead. Cyclists of all ages and abilities pedaled under the early morning sky, moving past some of Dubai’s most recognisable landmarks: the Museum of the Future, Burj Khalifa, and Dubai Water Canal. Whether families were enjoying their first cycling adventure together on the 4km Downtown route or athletes were pushing their limits in the thrilling Speed Laps, Dubai Ride 2025 was a vivid showcase of the DFC 2025 tagline: “Find Your Challenge”.
Participants could select from two unique routes: the family-friendly 4km Downtown loop, ideal for young riders and families, which offered stunning views along Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard past Dubai Opera and Burj Khalifa; or the 12km Sheikh Zayed Road route, which delivered an unparalleled urban cycling experience, crossing the city’s spectacular skyline and furthering participants’ 30×30 fitness goals.
In recognition of the diversity and dedication on show, Saeed Hareb, Secretary General of Dubai Sports Council, stated:
“Witnessing 40,327 cyclists come together this morning was a powerful reminder of what makes Dubai truly special. In the UAE’s ‘Year of Community’, Dubai Ride, presented by DP World, exemplifies how sport and fitness unite people across all backgrounds and abilities. The energy and dedication we witnessed today continues to grow year after year, demonstrating our community’s commitment to embracing active living. Seeing families, friends, and individuals of all abilities sharing the road together perfectly captures our vision of a united, healthy, and active Dubai.”
Ahmed Al Khaja, CEO of Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), commented:
“What an extraordinary way to launch Dubai Fitness Challenge 2025. The sight of thousands of cyclists taking over Sheikh Zayed Road this morning was nothing short of remarkable – a true testament to Dubai’s passion for active living. Dubai Ride, presented by DP World, continues to captivate our community, transforming our iconic roads into a celebration of health, unity, and joy. This flagship event proves that fitness is most powerful when experienced collectively, and today’s enthusiasm has ignited the momentum that will inspire the entire city throughout November and beyond.”
The morning was alive with energy and entertainment. The younger riders on the 4km route met Dubai’s beloved mascots Modesh and Dana, while the innovative ‘Ride & Style’ station provided opportunities to personalize bikes with bold ribbons, streamers, and custom stickers. Along the 12km route, MC Katie Overy kept spirits high at the start, and DJs Shuan and Cool Cats—who will also perform at UNTOLD Dubai—maintained excitement along the route. Drumming groups, the Philippine School Dubai Drum & Lyre Corps, the UAE All Star cheerleading squad, and the playful Teddy Monster character added a festive vibe, while an LED speed limit sign offered a playful, competitive challenge for riders.
The event attracted well-known personalities from global fitness, wellness, and sports, including Leana Deeb, Gary Brecka, Kayla Itsines, and former football player Bacary Sagna.
For advanced athletes, the Dubai Ride Speed Laps kicked off the morning with exhilarating sprints at a minimum pace of 30km/h on Sheikh Zayed Road, before the main ride began.
Dubai Ride 2025 reiterated the vision of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, reinforcing Dubai’s status as one of the world’s most active cities.
Looking ahead, Dubai gears up for even more flagship events during DFC 2025:

- Dubai Run, presented by Mai Dubai, on 23 November, set to welcome hundreds of thousands to Sheikh Zayed Road, and
