Al Amerat, Nizwa Dominate Week 4 of Youth League
In another action-packed week of the Youth Basketball League 2025-26, Al Amerat and Nizwa Club emerged dominant with commanding victories at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher on Tuesday.
In the first clash, Nizwa Club secured a crucial win over Masirah Club with a final scoreline of 71-44. Nizwa asserted control in most phases of the match, particularly shining in the first and third quarters. They built their triumph on tactical discipline, team cohesion, and offensive efficiency.
Led by standout player Adam al Hinai, who contributed 21 points, Nizwa’s attack was further reinforced by Al Mulhim al Obaidani and Elias al Obaidani, both of whom added 10 points, and Wael al Busaidy with 7 points. For Masirah, Rashid al Isai top scored with 13 points, supported by Mohammed al Shibli with 10 and Mohammed al Shawi with 7.
Nizwa opened the game with an 18-4 lead in the first quarter, capitalizing on high concentration in finishing and tight defensive sequences. The second quarter was more evenly contested, both sides adding 20 points. Despite Masirah’s brief resurgence in the third quarter, Nizwa’s defensive pressure and speedy transitions resulted in a dominating 24-3 run. Though Masirah managed 17 points in the final quarter, Nizwa kept them at bay to seal the match.
The game was officiated by first referee Taha al Amri and second referee Al Mahdi al Alawi.
Later in the evening, Al Amerat delivered perhaps the most dominant performance of the week, dismantling Al Bashayer with a sweeping 97-27 victory.
Al Amerat asserted total control throughout all four quarters, combining sharp offensive execution with intense defence to overwhelm their opponents. Sami al Busaidy led the scoring charge with 24 points, followed by Mulham al Awaisi with 16 points. Sultan al Sinani added 10 points, while Al Yaman al Obaidani and Nawaf al Bahlouli contributed 6 points each. Riyad al Riyami stood out for Al Bashayer with a commendable 14 points.
The first quarter saw Al Amerat surge ahead 25-8, and they extended their advantage with a 21-10 second quarter. Leading 46-18 at halftime, Al Amerat kept momentum in the third quarter, outscoring Al Bashayer 17-7. But it was the final quarter that underscored their dominance, as they posted an astonishing 34-2 run to close the game.
Referees for the match were Ali al Sulaimani and Saeed al Ghamari.
With these victories, both Al Amerat and Nizwa have solidified their places as leading contenders in the Youth League, showcasing depth, strategy, and the rising basketball talent across the Sultanate.
