Rossi Hails the Kuwait Asian Shooting Championship as a ‘Model Event’
The recently concluded Kuwait Asian Shooting Championship, hosted at the Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Olympic Complex, has garnered widespread acclaim on the international stage. Luciano Rossi, President of the Italian Shooting Federation, lauded the championship, calling it a “model event that exceeded expectations.”
Rossi emphasized the exceptional organization, warm hospitality, and the strong partnership between the Kuwait Shooting Federation and the Asian Shooting Federation. The championship, he observed, saw performances—especially in the trap shooting category—that were on par with those at the Olympic Games.
Notably, Abdulrahman Al-Faihan, representing Kuwait, achieved a score that matched that of Nathan Hales, the Paris 2024 Olympic gold medalist, underscoring the high competitive standard of the championship.
“The event is progressing in the right direction, with top-level competition among champions,” Rossi stated, expressing confidence in Kuwait’s ongoing commitment to advancing the sport of shooting on both Asian and global platforms.
Rossi also conveyed his pride in attending the event, which was hosted under the leadership of Sheikh Salman Al-Hamoud, President of the Asian Shooting Federation, and Eng. Duaij Al-Otaibi, President of both the Arab and Kuwaiti Shooting Federations.
The trap events for both men and women recently wrapped up, with Kuwait’s shooters securing five medals and occupying five of the top six positions—a clear reflection of their growing dominance in the sport.
Meanwhile, the 50-plate skeet competitions for both men and women are currently underway, with finalists set to emerge ahead of the climactic finals on Friday.
Adding to the chorus of praise, Qatari technical delegate Abdullah Al-Hammadi commended both Kuwait and Sheikh Salman for their efforts, acknowledging the high technical standard and the fierce competition witnessed throughout the championship. He remarked that the athletes were “striving for top positions in each category.”
