Dubai to Host Groundbreaking Women’s Triathlon World Cup 2025
Dubai is set to make sporting history by hosting the first-ever Women’s Triathlon World Cup – Dubai 2025, a global event exclusively dedicated to women. Organised by the Dubai Sports Council, the championship will take place on Dubai Islands on 7th December 2025, and is held in collaboration with World Triathlon and the UAE Triathlon Federation.
The inaugural event promises a world-class platform for women to display their talent and resilience in the triathlon’s three classic disciplines: swimming, cycling, and running. Participants can choose among three distinct race formats: Professional (Amateurs): 750m swim, 20km cycle, 5km run; Sprint (Amateurs): 750m swim, 20km cycle, 5km run; and Super Sprint (Age Groups and Beginners): 400m swim, 10km cycle, 2.5km run. For added camaraderie and team spirit, a team category has also been introduced, allowing three women to each take on a different leg of the Sprint or Super Sprint races.
This pioneering initiative is deeply aligned with Dubai’s goal of empowering women, enabling them to take a leading role in society, and increasing their presence in international sporting arenas. It reflects the Dubai Sports Council’s vision to position Dubai as the world’s leading sports destination and to expand opportunities for women to compete and excel on international platforms.
The importance of this event is further underlined by its integration into the official World Triathlon championship calendar. The world governing body has hailed the Dubai event as possessing “strategic importance” for the sport and as a means to open new horizons for triathlon, especially among women worldwide.
Antonio Fernandez Arimany, President of World Triathlon, expressed his strong support for this unique collaboration, saying:
“We commend Dubai’s leading role in supporting and promoting women’s participation in sports, and we are honoured to collaborate with the Dubai Sports Council in organising this first-ever Women’s Triathlon World Cup. This initiative is a source of pride for World Triathlon and it embodies our commitment to creating a real transformation in the global sports landscape by empowering women and expanding their participation in endurance sports.”
Registration is now officially open to women of all nationalities, both residents and visitors to the UAE, aged 18 and over. Those interested can sign up through the official event website (https://www.wtwcdubai.ae) until 3rd December 2025.
