Final Preparations Announced for Abu Dhabi International Shooting Championship 2025
The Higher Organising Committee has announced the final preparations for the highly anticipated Abu Dhabi International Shooting Championship, set to take place from December 1st to 4th, 2025, at the Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting and Golf Club. This elite event will bring together some of the world’s most prominent shooters and offers valuable cash prizes totaling $400,000 (over AED 1.5 million).
Organized under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Ain Region, the championship is the result of collaboration between the Weapons and Hazardous Substances Office, the UAE Shooting Federation, and the International Federation of Sport Shooting and Hunting (FITASC).
The committee outlined these details during a press conference on November 23 at the tournament venue, attended by Mohammed Suhail Al Neyadi (Director General of the Weapons and Hazardous Substances Office and Chairman of the Higher Organising Committee), Brigadier General Hassan bin Hadiya Al Shehhi (Vice President of the UAE Shooting Federation), Saif Matar Al Nuaimi (Tournament Director), and media representatives.
According to Mohammed Suhail Al Neyadi, “the total prize money for the tournament is $400,000 (more than AED 1.5 million), to be distributed among the winners,” with participation from over 300 shooters representing more than 30 countries, including 30 UAE competitors. He highlighted that women’s participation has reached approximately 10%, reflecting their growing involvement in the sport.
Al Neyadi also noted the high level of registration turnout, which closed on November 20, and the comprehensive readiness of technical and administrative teams to host the international shooting community. He commended partnerships with entities such as the UAE Shooting Federation, Abu Dhabi Sports Council, Al Ain Municipality, Abu Dhabi Police, Caracal International, and the Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting & Golf Club. Their combined efforts “contribute to delivering an event befitting the UAE’s stature and international organisational standards,” he said.
Logistical preparations are now fully complete to welcome athletes, who will be arriving according to a schedule that starts on November 25. Official training sessions will be held on November 27, 28, 29, and 30, followed by a draw prior to the official competitions. This timing coincides with the 54th Eid Al Etihad celebrations, adding further significance to the event.
Al Neyadi emphasized the deep link between shooting and Emirati national heritage, stressing that shooting is “an integral part of Emirati culture.” He pointed out that Al Ain’s hosting duties highlight its emerging role as a sports and tourism hub in the region, reinforcing the UAE’s global standing in the sporting arena.
The event’s final day will include a special occasion: the “Abu Dhabi Silver Awards”, with additional prizes valued at over AED 100,000, enhancing the competitive atmosphere.
Saif Matar Al Nuaimi, Tournament Director, commented, “the club has been experiencing an intense work atmosphere for weeks, as the committees work on putting the final touches to the tournament.”
With all preparations now in place, the Abu Dhabi International Shooting Championship 2025 is set to solidify its position as a leading event that both showcases international talent and celebrates the UAE’s sporting excellence and cultural heritage.
