UAE Delegation Heads to Egypt for the Launch of the 10th Zayed Charity Run in Giza
A delegation from the UAE is set to arrive in the Arab Republic of Egypt to participate in the preparatory and organisational work ahead of the much-anticipated 10th edition of the Zayed Charity Run, which will take place this Friday in Sheikh Zayed City, within the Sixth of October area, Giza Governorate.
The event stands out as a humanitarian sporting occasion, rooted in the legacy of giving established by the late Founding Father Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. It reflects the profound fraternal and humanitarian ties between the UAE and Egypt.
Registration for this year’s edition has seen a remarkable increase, with expectations of a record number of participants from various age groups, including People of Determination. This strong engagement reinforces the run’s position as a global platform that unites sport and charitable work, while promoting the values of social inclusion and human solidarity.
Across the Giza Governorate, official advertising billboards have been widely placed in major squares and main streets, indicating the high level of community involvement. The event also enjoys robust backing from the Egyptian government and continuous coordination with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, led by Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, in partnership with the Higher Organising Committee headed by Lt. Gen. (Rtd.) Mohamed Helal Al Kaabi and the Abu Dhabi Sports Council. These joint efforts are ensuring the event meets the highest organisational and technical standards.
The UAE delegation’s arrival in Cairo signifies the final phase of preparations, including reviewing the run route and facilities, conducting field visits, and undertaking community activities such as a visit to the Egyptian Food Bank. This demonstrates that the Zayed Charity Run is more than a sporting event — it delivers a comprehensive humanitarian message by transforming the values of solidarity and cooperation into real-world initiatives that benefit people in need.
The total prize money offered this year is EGP20 million across various categories. Additionally, proceeds from the event will go towards supporting government kidney dialysis centers in Egypt, thus reinforcing the healthcare sector, and to the Egyptian Food Bank through the “Rayan Egypt” project. The initiative aims to drill wells, establish fish farms, and provide sustainable food and water sources — directly improving the quality of life and food and water security for the most vulnerable populations.
Lt. Gen. (Rtd.) Mohamed Helal Al Kaabi, Chairman of the Higher Organising Committee, emphasized the significance of this year’s race, stating that the tenth edition in Cairo marks a major milestone. He affirmed the run’s embodiment of noble humanitarian values instilled by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. In his words:
“We take pride in the growing humanitarian impact achieved by the Zayed Charity Run, and in the strong turnout and engagement we are witnessing today, which reflect society’s awareness of the run’s message and noble objectives.”
He further noted that the close partnership with Egyptian entities and substantial support from the Abu Dhabi Sports Council has created an integrated organisational environment, strengthening the event’s prestige and ensuring its continuity as a model linking sport with humanitarian service.
The event’s programme will run from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., featuring a wide array of segments, including the reception of distinguished guests, races of varied distances, special activities for People of Determination, and various community, awareness, and entertainment segments, reinforcing the family-friendly and humanitarian character of the event.
This year’s run enjoys support from key partners such as Abu Dhabi Developmental Holding Company, Emirates Airline (Official Airline Partner), Al Habtoor Group, NORINCO, e&, and the Emirates Red Crescent — all contributing to intensifying the event’s social impact.
The 2025–2026 season of the Zayed Charity Run is set to extend its message of giving to new international destinations, beginning in Cairo, proceeding to Miami, USA (31st January 2026), and concluding in Budapest, Hungary in May. This global journey spreads the spirit of goodness and hope from the UAE to communities worldwide.
Since its inception, the Zayed Charity Run has solidified its reputation as one of the world’s foremost humanitarian sporting events, perpetuating the legacy of the UAE’s founding leader. The runners’ steps are a continuation of an endless river of generosity and a demonstration of enduring Emirati humanitarian values.
