Sharjah Broadcasting Authority Crowned Champions at Inaugural Sharjah Media Ramadan Football Tournament
SHARJAH, 12th March, 2026 – H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council, awarded the championship trophy to the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority (SBA) team on Wednesday evening, celebrating their victory in the first edition of the Sharjah Media Ramadan Football Championship at the Sharjah Police Club stadium.
Sheikh Sultan congratulated the SBA players on their well-deserved victory and title, expressing his wishes for their continuing success in future sporting events.
Highlighting the significance of the event, Sheikh Sultan stated, the Sharjah Media Ramadan Championship, “aims to strengthen institutional belonging and enhance bonds among employees of entities operating under the council’s umbrella.” He praised the tournament’s role in promoting physical activity, sports culture within the workplace, and fostering values of fair play, honourable competition, and sportsmanship among all participants.
The Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council commended the high technical level displayed by all participating teams and noted that the championship achieved its core goals of enhancing communication and strengthening ties amongst professionals in the emirate’s media sector. The tournament successfully fostered an atmosphere of positive interaction, friendly competition, and a united team spirit.
In honor of all participating teams, Sheikh Sultan praised their efforts and encouraged ongoing involvement in such sporting initiatives, which help reinforce professional and social ties within the media community. Special appreciation was also extended to the referees and sponsors, including the Basma Group, Sharjah National Oil Corporation (SNOC), Sharjah Police, and the University of Sharjah.
Individual awards, including Best Player, Best Goalkeeper, and Championship Top Scorer, were also presented to outstanding participants during the ceremony.
The championship, marked by competitiveness and enthusiasm, featured four teams: the Sharjah Media Council, Sharjah Broadcasting Authority, Sharjah Government Media Bureau, and Sharjah Media City (Shams). The tournament followed a round-robin format, with each team playing three matches and accumulating points to determine the winner.
The final festivities were attended by distinguished guests, including Major General Abdullah Mubarak bin Amer (Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police), Mohamed Hassan Khalaf (Director General of SBA), Tariq Saeed Allay (Director General, Sharjah Government Media Bureau), Hassan Yaqoub Al Mansouri (Secretary General, Sharjah Media Council), Salem Ali Al Ghaithi (Director, SBA), Khamis Abdullah Al Mazrouei (Executive Director, SNOC), Professor Dr. Issam Al Din Ajami (Chancellor, University of Sharjah), and several officials and supporters from the participating teams.
