Abu Dhabi Sports Council and World Triathlon have officially announced the race courses for the Modon World Triathlon Championship Series – Abu Dhabi 2026, powered by TAQA. The renowned event will once again take place at Hudayriyat Island on 29 March 2026, marking its return to one of Abu Dhabi’s premier sporting destinations for the second consecutive year.
Hudayriyat Island will host all the race segments, offering competitors a distinctive competitive experience that blends challenge and excitement. This comprehensive layout underscores the island’s reputation as a top destination for endurance sports.
The triathlon will kick off with a swim in the clear waters of the Arabian Gulf, followed by a cycling course known for its smooth and fast layout. The final run segment promises athletes dramatic views of Abu Dhabi’s skyline, delivering an inspiring and memorable finish-line experience.
The 2026 program features Super Sprint, Sprint, and Standard races for individuals and relay teams, along with a Junior Super Sprint, a kid’s Triathlon, and specialized races for athletes of determination. These events create opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to participate.
Organizers have introduced a new 2.5 km family run to the schedule, aiming to foster greater community participation. Families can look forward to a unique sporting experience in a festive atmosphere.
This year, improvements have been made to both the cycling and running courses to bring athletes closer to key spectator zones. This adjustment gives friends and families the chance to follow the action more easily and creates a vibrant atmosphere of support, enhancing the experience for all involved.
Hudayriyat Island is further cementing its status as a global destination for endurance sports, boasting integrated design, advanced infrastructure, and a world-class sporting environment—providing optimal conditions for athletes and top-quality viewing for spectators.
Aref Hamad Al Awani, Secretary General of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, commented, “Returning to Hudayriyat Island for the second consecutive year allows us to build on the success achieved in the previous edition while continuing to enhance the experience for athletes and participants. The course improvements introduced for the 2026 edition aim to bring spectators closer to the heart of the competition and create a more vibrant and engaging atmosphere throughout the races.”
He added, “Major sporting events such as the Modon World Triathlon Championship Series – Abu Dhabi 2026 form a key part of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council’s vision to encourage community members to adopt an active and healthy lifestyle, while strengthening social connections through sport.”
Registration for the Age Group races is now open. The organizers are urging sports clubs, corporate groups, and schools to join the Clubs Challenge 2026, which will honor the club with the largest presence at the start line. This initiative celebrates the spirit of collective training, offering exclusive rewards for participating clubs and special recognition for standout teams.
