Saudi Arabian club makes record-breaking offer for Man Utd captain Bruno Fernandes

Saudi Pro League giants Al Hilal have reportedly made a record-shattering offer to secure the services of Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes, putting pressure on the Premier League club ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.
According to The Athletic, Fernandes is among Al Hilal’s top transfer priorities for 2025, with the club prepared to bid more than the current British transfer record of £115 million (US$153 million), set by Moises Caicedo’s move from Brighton to Chelsea.
On top of the sizable transfer fee, Al Hilal is reportedly offering Fernandes a staggering £65 million annual salary—more than triple his current pay at Old Trafford. The 31-year-old midfielder has not commented on the offer, choosing instead to focus on United’s upcoming Europa League semifinal second leg.
A fee surpassing £115 million for a player over 30 years old would mark a historic milestone in football history. For Fernandes, playing in the Saudi Pro League could offer a blend of high-level competition, financial stability, and potential to maintain a spot on the Portugal national team—a path followed by stars like Cristiano Ronaldo and Otavio.
Fernandes has been a standout performer for United this season, tallying 19 goals and 15 assists in all competitions. His brilliant display in the 3-0 victory over Athletic Bilbao during the Europa League semifinal first leg has kept United in the hunt for a Champions League qualification via a European title, despite their current 15th-place standing in the Premier League.
Spanish media have suggested that Real Madrid values Fernandes at around £90 million, but Manchester United are reportedly unwilling to part ways with their captain without a serious battle.
