Oman Prevails Over India in Thrilling Finale at International Tennis Team Championship 2025
Muscat – In an electrifying showdown that capped off a week of intense competition, Team Oman clinched victory over Team India in the grand finale of the International Tennis Team Championship 2025, held at the Diplomatic Club’s tennis courts in Muscat. This prestigious event brought together 15 teams and nearly 55 players from over 15 nationalities, transforming the courts into a hub of global camaraderie and elite tennis action.
The championship match began with a strong start for Oman, as Abdul Malik Al-Oufi outplayed Hassan Haider of India with a commanding 9/4 win in the opening singles. India quickly leveled the tie with a decisive 9/5 victory in doubles as Hassan Haider and Sivan Govind overcame Omanais duo Abdullah Al-Yahuaey and Muneer Al-Rawahi. The tournament’s verdict came down to the final singles match, where Muneer Al-Rawahi delivered a flawless performance to defeat Vikram Gokhale 9/0, sealing a 2-1 win for Oman and igniting jubilant celebrations among the home supporters.
The event saw participation from a diverse mix of international teams, including four from Oman, two from India, and others representing Italy, the UK, Indonesia, Lebanon, the Netherlands, the Commonwealth, and three teams from the Rest of the World. Matches followed a round-robin format across four groups, followed by high-voltage semi-finals and a gripping final. Each team contest featured three pro-set matches: two singles and one doubles.
