UAE Rugby Team Triumphs Over South Korea in Asian Qualifiers, Bolsters 2027 World Cup Hopes
The UAE national rugby team (15-a-side category) achieved a significant victory, defeating South Korea 38-36 in the second round of the Asian qualifiers for the 2027 Rugby World Cup (to be held in Australia). The closely fought match, held in Seoul on 21st June 2025, saw the first half end in a 21-21 tie before the UAE edged ahead in the second half.
This win has renewed the UAE’s chances of qualification. The final and third round of the qualifiers will see the UAE meet Sri Lanka on July 4 in Colombo.
According to tournament regulations, the team finishing first in the qualifiers will secure a direct spot in the World Cup. The second-placed team will move on to the final qualification playoff, scheduled to take place in Dubai from November 8 to 18.
