East Rutherford, NJ – July 9, 2025
Paris Saint-Germain delivered a masterclass in attacking football as they dismantled Real Madrid 4-0 in the semi-final of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup at MetLife Stadium, booking their place in the final against Chelsea.
PSG wasted no time asserting dominance. In just the 6th minute, Ousmane Dembélé dispossessed Raul Asencio in the box and set up Fabián Ruiz for a clinical finish. Three minutes later, Dembélé turned scorer, capitalizing on a defensive error by Antonio Rüdiger to double the lead.
The French side’s relentless pressure paid off again in the 24th minute, when a swift counterattack saw Achraf Hakimi deliver a pinpoint cross to Ruiz, who netted his second of the night. By halftime, PSG led 3-0, having stunned a largely pro-Madrid crowd.
All eyes were on Kylian Mbappé, facing PSG for the first time since his high-profile move to Madrid. However, the French superstar was kept quiet by a disciplined PSG defense. Gianluigi Donnarumma made a key early save from Mbappé, but the Madrid forward failed to make a significant impact.
Substitute Gonçalo Ramos added the final blow in the 87th minute, finishing off a flowing move to make it 4-0. The goal capped a dominant performance by PSG, who have now kept five clean sheets in six tournament matches.
With this emphatic win, PSG advances to face Chelsea in the final on Sunday. Chelsea secured their spot with a 2-1 win over Fluminense, thanks to a brace from João Pedro. PSG will aim to become the first French club to win the FIFA Club World Cup, while Chelsea seeks their second title after triumphing in 2021.
