Abu Dhabi Sets the Stage for Historic Open Masters Games 2026
The countdown has officially begun: just 200 days remain until the opening ceremony of the Open Masters Games Abu Dhabi 2026, an event anticipated to be the most diverse international sports gathering ever seen in the Middle East.
This year’s landmark event is inviting the community to play an active role, with volunteer signups already launched in partnership with the Emirates Foundation. The initiative offers students, professionals, sports enthusiasts, and community champions the opportunity to gain invaluable experience while making an important contribution to a healthier society and a more connected future. Volunteers will be at the heart of the event, helping to deliver a truly memorable Games and a positive impact on the region.

Scheduled from 6-16 February 2026, the Games will take place across more than 20 venues, featuring over 25,000 participants from around the world. Competitors will engage in 33 sports, including four that honor the UAE’s rich heritage. As the first event of its kind in the region, the Open Masters Games will foster social connection, healthy living, and national pride, while demonstrating excellence that transcends age boundaries.
In the run-up to the Games, organisers are preparing for a busy 200-day period filled with community engagement, site preparations, and frequent updates for the public. This international event is set to draw more than 100 nationalities, celebrating multiculturalism, intergenerational dialogue, diversity, and encouraging healthy aging, especially among the older generation.
