The Sharjah Sports Council, under the leadership of Issa Hilal Al Hazami, has given its final approval for the upcoming Air Badminton World Cup. The prestigious international competition is scheduled to take place in Khorfakkan from 11th to 14th December. Final preparations and key logistics were discussed during the council’s regular meeting, reflecting the Emirate’s ongoing commitment to enhancing the UAE’s global profile as a host for major sporting events. Progress reports on both completed and pending preparations were presented, and members authorised a comprehensive promotional campaign. Particular attention was focused on logistical strategies that will support the event’s success and reinforce the UAE’s stature in the international sports arena. The council’s agenda also featured a review of other notable international competitions poised to take place in Sharjah in the coming months. Among these are the sixth Kalba Beach Games set for November and the 11th Sharjah International Cycling Tour scheduled for January 2026. Both events aim to sustain the momentum of Sharjah’s dynamic sporting calendar. In addition, the meeting featured updates on the ongoing strategic dialogue initiative, now in its fifth year, which included assessments of recent outcomes. Council members expressed their appreciation for the achievements marked by the first Sharjah Sports Excellence Leadership Programme’s successful awards ceremony held in July. Further steps were taken to sustain long-term development, with the formation of a dedicated task force. This team, led by Dr. Abdulrahman Al Yasi and Kaltham Obaid Al Matrooshi, will work closely with Sharjah Municipality and the Districts Affairs Department to oversee the roll-out of the Emirate’s Park Investment Programme.
