Sharjah Women’s Sports Club has continued its dominance in the UAE fencing scene, clinching a total of seven medals in the UAE Fencing Cup’s senior and under-17 categories, held at Mizhar Sports Hall in Dubai on 4–5 October. The tournament featured stiff competition from clubs like Abu Dhabi Fencing Club, Fujairah Martial Arts, Al Ain Cultural Sports Club, MK Academy, and Dubai Fencing Academy.
In the senior category, Sharjah’s athletes shone across all three fencing disciplines. In Épée, Sheikha Al Zaabi seized the gold, followed by Zainab Al Hosani with silver, and Fajr Al Marzouqi earning bronze. The Foil event saw an outstanding performance from Habiba Mustafa, who claimed silver. In the Sabre category, Mariam Al Dughidi captured gold, Lian Thabet took silver, and Mahra Abdullah secured bronze. This impressive haul gave the senior team a total of two gold, three silver, and two bronze medals.
The club’s success was further amplified in the under-17 category, where 16 Sharjah athletes kept up the momentum and added four more medals. In Épée, Jouri Al Ali took bronze; in Foil, Dana Al Shamsi also won bronze; and in Sabre, Shamma Al Suwaidi claimed silver while Al Anoud Al Falasi secured bronze. This strong showing highlights the club’s consistent progress across all age groups and reaffirms its reputation as one of the UAE’s leading fencing clubs.
Balqis Al Shehi, Head of Technical Analysis and Follow-up at Sharjah Women’s Sports, emphasized that the UAE Cup results “reflect the club’s advancement in individual sports.” She highlighted that the achievements in both senior and under-17 categories are due to a combination of comprehensive technical planning and teamwork. In her words, developing “individual sports, including fencing, is central to the club’s strategy, empowering players to compete locally and internationally,” recognizing the athletes’ “skill and discipline,” and affirming that these results inspire the club to “continue building and achieving more this season.”
The triumph at the UAE Cup strengthens Sharjah Women’s Sports Club’s commitment to the growth of fencing. By providing a complete training environment and dedicated support, the club aims to ensure its athletes represent both the club and the emirate with distinction in competitions both within the UAE and on the international stage.
