The UAE National Anti-Doping Agency (UAE NADA) is set to take part with an official delegation in the 10th session of the Conference of Parties (COP10) to the International Convention against Doping in Sport. The significant event will be hosted by UNESCO at its headquarters in Paris from 20th to 22nd October.
This year, COP10 commemorates the 20th anniversary of the Convention, serving as a pivotal moment to reflect on two decades of progress and shape the future roadmap for global actions to protect sport values, ethics, and integrity.
According to Dr. Mai Ahmed Al Jaber, President of the National Anti-Doping Agency, the UAE’s participation at the conference underscores its commitment to “applying international standards and strengthening global cooperation to safeguard the integrity of sports competitions.”
The COP10 agenda will address several key topics such as assessing countries’ compliance with the International Convention, boosting coordination with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) to unify efforts and standards, and endorsing a new action plan focused on eradicating doping in sport.
Additionally, Dr. Al Jaber stated that the Agency will also attend the World Anti-Doping Conference, scheduled for 1st to 5th December in Busan, Republic of Korea.
The upcoming global conference will assemble athletes and a diverse group of more than 1,500 representatives from the sports movement, governments, national and regional anti-doping organisations, laboratories, service providers, researchers, and the media, each adding value to the collective mission of maintaining sports free from interference by prohibited substances or practices.
