Bahrain Set for 3rd Asian Youth Games in October 2025, Paving the Way for Future Champions
The Olympic Council of Asia has confirmed that the 3rd Asian Youth Games “Bahrain 2025” will be a crucial event in preparing the continent’s young athletes for the upcoming Youth Olympic Games in Dakar 2026 and the Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, 2026.
Husain Al-Musallam, Director-General of the Olympic Council of Asia, stated that the Kingdom of Bahrain has achieved the highest level of readiness to host the event, set to take place from 22nd to 31st October. The Games will bring together 4,250 athletes to compete in 249 medal events spanning 26 Olympic and Asian sports.
Al-Musallam emphasized that Bahraini officials have completed all necessary preparations in terms of infrastructure and organisation within just eight months, which he described as a remarkable feat given the scale of the event.
He also expressed optimism for “strong and exciting competitions” in Bahrain, predicting the emergence of new champions across various sports. According to Al-Musallam, athletes aged between 14 and 17 will provide valuable insights into Asia’s sporting development leading up to the 2028 Olympics.
Highlighting Bahrain’s regional significance, Al-Musallam noted that the country represents the GCC region with its exceptional level of preparedness, set to welcome athletes from 45 nations in a celebration of athletic excellence and competition.
The UAE will join the Games with a delegation of 152 athletes—107 male and 45 female—competing in 19 sports.
