UAE Rugby Federation Announces Resignation of Apollo Perelini After Decade of Service
The UAE Rugby Federation has announced the resignation of Apollo Perelini, Executive Director and Head Coach of the national teams, following a decade of dedicated service. During his tenure, Perelini made significant contributions to the development of rugby in the UAE, leading efforts to rebuild the nation’s rugby system and strengthen the presence of national teams on the regional and international stage.
According to the Federation, Perelini was instrumental in implementing a comprehensive development plan that reinforced the technical structure of both the national teams and age-group programmes. His leadership saw the national team’s global ranking climb from 105th to 40th place, marking one of the most noteworthy achievements in the history of UAE rugby.
Mohamed Sultan Al Zaabi, Secretary-General of the Federation, praised Perelini’s efforts, stating that his impact was clearly visible in both the technical and organisational progress of the national teams during recent years. Al Zaabi further emphasized the Federation’s appreciation for the qualitative work delivered by Perelini. He also noted that the Federation’s Board of Directors will soon announce the new coach who will lead the national teams forward, ensuring the continued advancement and growth of UAE rugby.
