The ATP has announced the recipients of the 2024 Tournament of the Year awards, with the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, the cinch Championships at London’s Queen’s Club, and the Qatar ExxonMobil Open in Doha being honored in their respective categories.
Indian Wells Masters 1000 Tournament of the Year
The BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells has been named the ATP Masters 1000 Tournament of the Year for a record-extending 10th consecutive time. Known for its stunning desert landscape and exceptional facilities, the tournament continues to set the standard for excellence on the ATP Tour. In 2024, the event awarded over $19 million in prize money and attracted 493,440 fans over two weeks, both record numbers. This year also marked the debut of the BNP Paribas Open Mixed Doubles Invitational, the first mixed doubles competition at an ATP Masters 1000 event.
Tournament Director Tommy Haas expressed gratitude for the recognition, stating, “We are honoured that for a remarkable 10 years in a row, ATP players have voted Indian Wells as the premier 1000-level event on Tour.”
Queen’s Club ATP 500 Tournament of the Year
The cinch Championships at the Queen’s Club in London have been awarded the ATP 500 Tournament of the Year for the third consecutive year and the sixth time overall. The historic grass-court event is renowned for its intimate setting and high-quality player services. In 2024, Tommy Paul secured the singles title, while Neal Skupski and Michael Venus clinched the doubles crown.
Chris Pollard, Managing Director of the tournament, remarked, “We are very pleased to have been voted ATP 500 Tournament of the Year for the third successive year.” He also noted the positive impact of having Jamie Murray as Tournament Director, whose experience on the ATP Tour has further enhanced the player experience.
Doha ATP 250 Tournament of the Year
The Qatar ExxonMobil Open in Doha has been named the ATP 250 Tournament of the Year for the sixth time, having previously received the honor in 2015, 2017, 2019, 2021, and 2022. The tournament is set to elevate its status to an ATP 500 event starting in 2025. In 2024, Karen Khachanov won the singles title, with Jamie Murray and Michael Venus taking the doubles trophy.
Tournament Director Karim Alami expressed delight at the recognition, stating, “This achievement reflects our ongoing commitment to delivering a top-tier sporting experience for players and tennis fans alike.” He also extended gratitude to title sponsor ExxonMobil Qatar for their continued support.
Special Recognitions for Standards of Excellence
Additionally, the ATP awarded special recognition for Standards of Excellence to the cinch Championships, the Rolex Shanghai Masters, and the Nordea Open in Bastad. These recognitions are based on player surveys assessing various aspects of the on-site experience, aiming to continually raise standards across the Tour.
