Gabriela Fundora Sets Sights on More World Titles in Multiple Divisions
Undisputed world champion Gabriela “Sweet Poison” Fundora (16-0, 8 KOs), representing Coachella Valley, thrilled fans at Frontwave Arena in Oceanside with a commanding stoppage victory over IBF mandatory challenger and title contender Marilyn Badillo (19-1-1, 3 KOs) of Cuautitlán, Mexico.
Fundora delivered a punctuating moment in the seventh round, landing a crisp jab that sent Badillo to the canvas for the first time in her career. As the referee initiated the 10-count, Badillo signaled she couldn’t continue, granting Fundora a decisive and emphatic win.
The main event, a 10-round bout streamed live globally on DAZN, marked Fundora’s first appearance in the top billing—ushering in a new era in women’s boxing.
“I knew the stoppage was coming—it was just a question of how I was going to set it up,” Fundora commented post-fight.
“We train extremely hard, and I’ve matured. With time comes experience. I was able to adjust quickly to her style in the first round and noticed she was ducking her head. By the final round, I was like a train—I just kept pressing forward and never let up.”
“I wasn’t surprised when she chose not to continue after that knockdown. This is why we put in the work. Now, I’ll regroup with my team to decide whether we move up or down in weight. Either way, I’m ready to collect more championship belts in other divisions!”
