Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre to Host Sports Activities During the Summer
Muscat: The Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre (OCEC) is set to revitalize the local sporting scene this summer with the return of Sports Spark, its signature indoor sports event. Running from 18 July to 16 August within the ultra-modern, air-conditioned Exhibition Halls 1 and 2, the initiative aims to offer a much-needed escape from the summer heat, promoting fitness, wellbeing, and community engagement in the heart of Muscat.
Building on the overwhelming success of last year’s event—which drew more than 30,000 participants and achieved a complete sell-out—Sports Spark 2025 promises an even greater array of activities. The programme will include perennial favourites such as football, basketball, pickleball, badminton, and cricket. In a nod to changing trends, fast-growing pursuits like e-gaming will be introduced, ensuring there is something for every interest and age group.
Demonstrating the OCEC’s commitment to fostering a healthy lifestyle and expanding access to sports, organisers have ensured that teams, individuals, and clubs can book facilities for as little as OMR 2 per hour, with multiple time slots available each day. Parents looking for creative ways to keep their children active during the break can also sign up for dedicated summer camps, offered with early-bird rates until 5 July. Additionally, corporates have the opportunity to secure bespoke packages, encouraging workplace fitness and employee wellbeing.
“To us, this isn’t just about transforming our exhibition halls into a sports haven, it’s about encouraging summer activity and promoting fitness across all age groups. For one whole month, the OCEC becomes a place for people to play, move, and connect, with summer camps for kids, corporate challenges, tournaments, and more. It’s not just about staging an event: it’s about building habits, creating access, and showing what sport can do for your body, mind, and community. I invite everyone to discover the best that Sports Spark has to offer.” (Eng. Said Al Shanfari, CEO of OCEC)
Excitement is mounting for a line-up of tournaments and competitions taking place throughout the month, including special events over the opening weekend, with further details to be revealed soon.
