Two UAE Female Riders Achieve International Equestrian Federation Status
Wafaa Al Dahmani and Fatima Al Balushi, two female riders from the UAE, have secured International Equestrian Federation (FEI) status through the Amiri Stables equestrian programme in Abu Dhabi. The initiative aims to enhance the performance of people of determination in dressage, paving the way for their participation in the 2028 Los Angeles Paralympic Games.
Both riders underwent official para-equestrian classification evaluation by the FEI last June at Wellington Riding in the United Kingdom. As a result, Al Dahmani was classified in Grade II, while Al Balushi received a Grade III classification.
Amiri Stables confirmed that the two riders have completed all necessary requirements for official classification by the FEI, ensuring they are on the right path towards qualification for the next Paralympic Games. This achievement follows their participation in a training programme that started earlier this year in Abu Dhabi.
The comprehensive programme featured horse riding lessons, theoretical sessions, simulator training, as well as dedicated sessions on physical therapy and sports mental health. These activities were conducted under the guidance of specialised experts in physiotherapy, sports psychology, and nutrition.
Al Dahmani, 31, shared, “She and her teammate Al Balushi had recently participated in daily training in the UK, attended the international para-dressage championship, and engaged with athletes from the British team, which has won several gold medals.”
This accomplishment not only marks a significant advancement for UAE equestrian sports but also highlights the country’s commitment to empowering athletes of determination on international platforms.
