Isaac del Toro Clinches Fifth Victory in Two Weeks at Clàssica Terres de l’Ebre
Isaac del Toro picked up exactly where he left off after his recent successes at the Tour of Austria, delivering a brilliant performance at the Clàssica Terres de l’Ebre to claim his fifth win in just two weeks. The UAE Team Emirates-XRG rider launched a daring solo attack, ensuring he would not be caught before the finish—a feat that has made him only the second-ever winner of this young Spanish one-day semi-Classic.
With this victory, Del Toro now boasts 10 career victories, having taken four stage wins at the Tour of Austria alone. The Mexican cyclist, who emerged as the breakout star of this year’s Giro d’Italia, demonstrated his class once again on Spanish soil.
The race unfolded over a rolling parcours in Tarragona, where Del Toro’s teammates set a searing pace under the midday sun. The peloton gradually splintered as the combination of intense heat and relentless tempo proved too much for many competitors. Sensing the moment to seize the race, Del Toro readied himself for a decisive move.
That opportunity came on the Alt de Paüls. With the front group reduced to only the strongest riders, Del Toro powered off the front. Only Natnael Tesfatsion of Movistar could initially follow, but as the gradient increased, Del Toro’s determination shone through.
In just two weeks, the UAE Team Emirates-XRG rider has doubled his career victory tally. If his latest performance is anything to go by, Del Toro is set for another exciting racing block in the upcoming weeks.
