L’Étape Dubai by Tour de France Announces Second Edition for January 2026
The organising committee of L’Étape Dubai by Tour de France has revealed the highly-anticipated second edition will take place on 25th January 2026. Backed by official partner Škoda and government partner Dubai Sports Council, the event is set to expand its impact, offering a robust weekend programme of activities and aiming to attract an even greater pool of passionate cyclists.
The inaugural edition of L’Étape Dubai set a new benchmark, drawing over 1,000 participants, including 243 international riders and 266 Emiratis. This turnout made it the largest debut amateur cycling event in the UAE. Competitors and families had the opportunity to ride across 101 km and 50 km courses, along with a family-friendly 20 km ride and dedicated kids’ races, traversing some of Dubai’s most iconic landmarks.
Looking ahead, organisers aim to host 2,000 cyclists across various categories in the 2026 edition. The spectacle will grow even further with the anticipated participation of legendary former Tour de France riders, expanding on the appearance of three former champions in 2025.
Essa Sharif, Director of the Sports Events Department at the Dubai Sports Council, said, “I am confident that the next edition will be even more successful, thanks to the heightened stature of cycling in Dubai and the availability of tracks extending hundreds of kilometers across the city. This is in addition to the increasing number of people practicing this wonderful sport, and the extensive experience of the Dubai Sports Council and the organising committee in hosting cycling races.”
He added that hosting the race in January, amid Dubai’s pleasant winter weather, will provide an ideal start to a busy season of international cycling events.
Antoine Quiers of A.S.O., organisers of the Tour de France, expressed his eagerness to deliver a standout experience for the second edition of L’Étape Dubai, attributing the event’s success to the dedication of partners and supporters.
Fairouz Al Qazi, race director of L’Étape Dubai by Tour de France powered by Škoda, confirmed that the strong interest in the event highlights the continued growth of cycling in the UAE, as early registration opens for the 2026 edition.
