Alamein, 20th August, 2025 — The first preliminary camel race of 2025 began at the Alamein Camel Racing Track in the Arab Republic of Egypt, marking the commencement of this year’s annual camel racing activities.
The race is organized in coordination with the Egyptian Camel Racing Federation and enjoys the support of the UAE Camel Racing Federation. This year’s event calendar includes a total of five races — comprising four preliminary rounds and a final race. Each round features 32 heats, with more than 1,400 camels participating, indicating the growing popularity and regional importance of the sport.
A notable feature this year is the introduction of robot jockeys, designed to further develop the sport and assure its sustainability in line with modern requirements. This innovation demonstrates the organizers’ commitment to combining tradition with technological advancement, ensuring camel racing remains relevant and competitive.
Both the Alamein and Sharm El-Sheikh tracks are regarded as among the most prominent camel racing venues in the region. These tracks annually host a series of preliminary races, culminating in the final festival scheduled for December 2025 at Alamein. These efforts collectively serve to preserve this deep-rooted sport and enhance its presence in Egypt and across the region.
