Sharjah Honours Al Hamriyah Aquathlon Champions
The Emirate of Sharjah reaffirmed its commitment to community health and fitness by hosting the highly anticipated Al Hamriyah Aquathlon at Al Hamriya Beach. Organised by the Sharjah Sports Council, the event drew more than 300 athletes who competed in a test of endurance combining swimming and running, in collaboration with the UAE Triathlon Federation and various supporting entities.
Award Ceremony and Distinguished Attendees
The winners were recognised in a prestigious award ceremony attended by key officials including Abdulmalik Jani, Vice-Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Council and Chairman of the UAE Triathlon Federation; Mubarak Al Shamsi, Director of Al Hamriyah Municipality; Major Mohammed Abdul Salam Loutaah, Head of Al Hamriyah Police Station; Captain Mohammed Abdel Aziz, Director of the Traffic Department branch; Salem Ali Al Khayyal and Engineer Ali Ahmed Al Mehairi, members of the Al Hamriya Club Board; Bakhit Saeed Al Qursi, Director of Sports and Community Events; and Youssef Al Housni, Head of Event Planning and Execution at the Council.
Sprint Category Winners
In the citizens’ sprint category, Yusuf Al Hani achieved first place, followed by Hazaa Al Kaabi in second and Zayed Ali in third. In the open men’s category, David Andor claimed top honours, with Hamad Al Mansoori and Peter Campbell rounding out the podium. The women’s sprint category saw Gemma Brown take first place, followed by Jo Murphy and Karligash Kairebkova.
Sprint Team Winners
The men’s team competition was won by Abdulrahman Rashad and Ahmed Al Naqbi, with Yaseen Omar and Ibrahim Raslan in second, and Ahmed Alaa and Abdul Khaleq Faris claiming third. In the women’s team segment, Kulthum Al Mazmi and Khadija Al Naqbi secured victory, while Donna Christie and Danica Joy placed second.
Super Sprint Category Winners
Among the citizens in the super sprint, Mohammed Abdullah Al Naqbi took first place, Hamad Al Sreidi was second, and Abdullah Mohammed came third. The open men’s super sprint saw Abdullah Amr secure first place, with Tai Glicksman and Muadh Amr finishing second and third. In the women’s super sprint, Jessica Slade claimed first, followed by Kira Avaryella and Millie Slade.
Junior Category Winners
Young athletes also had their moment of glory. In the junior boys’ category, Bradley James came in first, followed by Alexander Papin and Alex Taylor. In the junior girls’ division, Gavriel Serrano won first place, while Aveline San and Dia Harini secured second and third.

The Al Hamriyah Aquathlon stood as a testament to Sharjah’s proactive efforts to promote sports participation and inclusivity across the community. Beyond celebrating athletic excellence, the event exemplified the emirate’s vision of cultivating a healthy, active society, encouraging people of all ages to engage in physical activity and community events.
