UAE Karate Team Shines with Two Medals at Asian Championship in Shaoguan
SHAOGUAN, China, 6th September, 2025 — The UAE national karate team delivered a strong performance at the Asian Championship for juniors, youth, and under-21 categories, securing two medals — a silver and a bronze — during the event held in the Chinese city of Shaoguan from September 5 to 7. The championship witnessed the participation of top male and female athletes from across the continent, competing in Kata and Kumite competitions.
The silver medal was won by Sheikha Al Yafei, who claimed second place in the Kumite competition for the over 66 kg category in the girls’ (16–17 years) division. Adding to the UAE’s medal tally, Rashid Al Suraidi secured the bronze medal by finishing third in the under 61 kg category for the youth (16–17 years) division.
The UAE team participated in the championship with eight male and female athletes across various weight classes and categories, aiming to make a mark on the continental stage.
