Al-Ittihad Sign Serbian Defender Jan-Carlo Simic on 4-Year Deal
Al-Ittihad has confirmed the signing of Serbian defender Jan-Carlo Simic from Belgian side Anderlecht on a four-year contract.
The club announced the deal on Wednesday evening, marking it as their third foreign signing of the summer. Simic’s arrival follows the acquisitions of Portuguese winger Roger Fernandes and Malian midfielder Mahamadou Doumbia, as the club continues its efforts to bolster the squad ahead of the new season.
Simic, 20, is highly regarded as one of Europe’s most promising young talents. The central defender is expected to strengthen Al-Ittihad’s defense significantly. He has already earned five caps with the Serbian national team, a testament to his growing international experience.
Before making his move to Anderlecht, Simic was part of the roster at AC Milan, where he appeared six times during the 2022–23 season. His performance in 53 matches for Anderlecht, after transferring there last summer, helped cement his reputation as a dependable young defender with strong tactical awareness and impressive composure under pressure.
Simic’s signing reflects Al-Ittihad’s clear ambition to compete at the highest level both domestically and regionally, with a focus on youth and international experience.
