Kuwait’s Shasha Secures Serie A Broadcasting Rights Across 16 MENA Countries In a major boost to football fans across the Middle East and North Africa, Kuwait-based streaming platform Shasha has signed a deal to broadcast matches from Italy’s top-tier football league, Serie A, across 16 MENA countries. The agreement, brokered by Athlos Agency, begins with coverage starting from the fourth gameweek of the current 2025-26 season, kicking off on September 19. The agreement covers football fans in Kuwait, Egypt, Oman, Jordan, Iran, Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Yemen, Palestine, Sudan, South Sudan, Djibouti, Chad, Mauritania, and Somalia. These nations will now have access to live coverage and content related to one of Europe’s most prestigious football leagues, thanks to Shasha’s regional expansion. This new contract complements a separate broadcasting partnership concluded late last month between Serie A and Starzplay, which will run until the 2027-28 season. Together, these deals bolster Serie A’s presence in the MENA market, where the league has previously been shown by Abu Dhabi Media in recent seasons. Shasha has already established itself as a key broadcaster in Kuwait, being the official streaming partner for the country’s top domestic competition, the Zain Premier League. The move to add Serie A to its portfolio signals an expansion strategy to attract more viewers beyond national borders. “**We are thrilled to bring Serie A to Shasha’s international audience. Our dramas and current affairs productions are already showcasing the best of our region, and our growing sports output will allow us to give our audiences even more incredible content to enjoy,**” said Bader AlKulaib, co-founder and vice-chair at Shasha. Serie A has been actively pursuing international growth. Earlier this month, reports surfaced that the league has partnered with JP Morgan to advise on global expansion strategies, particularly in boosting overseas media revenues. As per Italian financial daily Milano Finanza, JP Morgan will help negotiate new international media rights deals aimed at maintaining revenues in the range of €240 million ($281.6 million) to €250 million annually. The league continues to have strong domestic momentum as well, with Italian media giants DAZN and Sky Italia sharing local broadcasting rights. Among the MENA region players contributing to Serie A’s growing appeal is Libyan midfielder Al-Musrati, who currently plays for Hellas Verona. This strategic partnership represents a concerted effort by Serie A to widen its global footprint and tap into the football-loving markets of the MENA region, while giving Shasha a significant role in sports content delivery across multiple territories.
