Abu Dhabi to Host Second International Basketball Championship Featuring Top Clubs from UAE Lebanon Philippines Kazakhstan and Kuwait

Abu Dhabi is set to host the second edition of the Abu Dhabi International Basketball Championship 2025 from 29th September to 5th October at the Al Jazira Club Indoor Arena. The prestigious tournament enjoys the support of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, with supervision from the UAE Basketball Federation, and is organised by Al Wahda Club in collaboration with Global Active Sports. This year’s championship will showcase an impressive lineup of eight elite clubs from the local, regional, and international basketball scenes. The participating teams include: UAE: Al Wahda, Al Dhafra, and Sharjah (UAE League Champion) Lebanon: Al Riyadi (League Champion) and Champville Philippines: TNT (Philippine Basketball Association Runner-up) Kazakhstan: Astana (League Champion) Kuwait: Al Qarin The tournament serves as a significant platform for teams to commence their preparations for the upcoming season. It offers invaluable opportunities for clubs to assess their readiness ahead of domestic competitions and regional qualifiers for continental championships. Moreover, exposure to different basketball schools and professional players from varied backgrounds will help elevate the competitive standards. Regarding the event, Abdullah Salem Al Junaibi stressed the thoroughness behind this year’s preparations and the pride in hosting such a diverse field. Al Wahda Club, with its distinguished history in organizing major competitions, emphasizes that this championship further strengthens sporting ties with teams from Lebanon, Kuwait, the Philippines, and Kazakhstan. The eight participating clubs will be split into two groups: Group A: Al Riyadi (Lebanon), TNT (Philippines), Sharjah (UAE), Al Dhafra (UAE) Group B: Al Wahda (UAE), Astana (Kazakhstan), Champville (Lebanon), Al Qarin (Kuwait) Each team will compete in three group-stage games.
