Fujairah Martial Arts Club is set to be the center of major sporting action this May, as it gears up to host the International Judo Championship and the Combined Fencing Championship during the first week of the month.
In a move aimed at bolstering its sporting roster, the club has initiated an open registration process to scout and nurture new talents across various combat sports. Selection will be based on precise criteria to match athletes with the disciplines that best fit their abilities and potential, ensuring that optimal results are achieved.
Nader Abu Shawish, Director of Fujairah Martial Arts Club, emphasized the club’s ongoing efforts to expand the skills of both male and female athletes across multiple disciplines. The club aims to facilitate their participation in international championships and help improve their world rankings by adhering to international standards that lead to podium finishes.
Highlighting the club’s international presence, Abu Shawish announced upcoming participations for Fares Al Baloushi and Al Hayam Al Baloushi. The athletes will represent the club at the Senior Fencing World Cup in Shanghai, China from 15th to 17th May. This prestigious event will see the world’s elite fencers compete, as per the top international rankings.
Following Shanghai, these athletes will head to the Senior Asian Championship in India from 19th to 24th June. This is recognized as one of Asia’s most significant tournaments for determining player rankings. Their competitive journey will then continue at the Senior World Championship in Hong Kong from 22nd to 31st July, a major global event and a crucial milestone for their careers.
Abu Shawish explained that participation in these events forms part of the club’s broader strategy to maintain and enhance international rankings and serves as a critical step toward the Olympic qualification pathway. The club is committed to providing its athletes with the best opportunities for exposure and experience at the highest level, all while developing sporting talents through approved training programmes.
